Grace: The Only Gospel

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Galatians 1:6

In this passage of scripture, the Bible defines grace as the gospel. “Unto another gospel” refers us back to grace, affirming grace as the gospel. In fact, when you look further at verse 7, we see:

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. Gal 1:7

There is a repeated emphasis on another, “which is not another” meaning the perversion of the gospel renders the result as “not another gospel”. The Bible is warning us that any other gospel, other than grace, is not the gospel at all. There is only one gospel and we are warned of being removed from Him if we don’t hold on to our original calling into “…that gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24.

Let’s purpose to know and understand the grace of Christ, for this gospel is a serious matter for our Father. He has, from the beginning of time, wanted to shower us with blessings and favor. It seems ironic that we would reject grace, but we actually do. Our ignorance, although innocent, separates us from the grace of Christ and from our Father. In Jude we can see His priority of having the proper influence or teaching. Although the Father, in this dispensation of grace, does not allow our destruction, His adamant opposition to unbelief is evident. The verses read as follows:

Jude 1:4-5 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

The “certain men” in Jude 1:4 are the same who in Gal 1:7, “be some that trouble you”. These are the men we listen to who speak into our hearing with words void of revelation from God. Preachers, pastors, teachers, elders, singers, even family members who profess a false gospel, which is no gospel at all. Join us during our study of Galatians on Wednesday evenings so that we can hear the word of the gospel of the grace of God! [Call 218.486.3691 access code 570919 at 7pm].
